The Edward Waters women’s indoor track & field team competed in their second meet of the young 2023 season, the KMS Invitational on Sunday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Highlighting the Lady Tiger efforts were top 10 finishes for Laelani Nesmith who placed eighth in the 600m in a time of 2:14.55 and the 4x100m relay team of Sanya Joseph, Briana Morris, Destiny Thomas, and Di-Raphaella Nelson, who finished seventh in a time of 1:59.64. Destiny Thomas also battled her way to a top 20 finish in the 400m at 1:09.95, good enough to place 19th in the event. Ellie Shurman turned in a 16th place finish in the Mile Run in a time of 6:17.40, while Sammya Brown finished 15th in the 3000m at 14:32.59. 

In the field events, Abnelle Jean Louis placed 21st in the Shot Put (7.65m/25′ 1.25″), while Briana Morris finished 22nd in the Long Jump (4.19m/13′ 9″).

The squad will next head to Mobile, Alabama to take part in the USA Jaguar Invitational, hosted by the University of South Alabama on Sunday, February 5th.
