Rep. Vern Buchanan, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, recently shared his views on several issues through a series of tweets. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Buchanan currently resides in Sarasota and has been an advocate for small businesses and legislative reforms.

On December 3, 2024, Rep. Buchanan tweeted about his recent engagement with small business owners during Small Business Saturday. He highlighted the challenges posed by rising health insurance costs and emphasized the need for Congress to ensure that small businesses can provide affordable health insurance to their employees. “This weekend, we commemorated #SmallBusinessSaturday! I recently led a discussion with small business owners on the challenges posed by rising health insurance costs. Congress must work to ensure our small businesses can offer affordable health insurance to their employees.”

The following day, December 4, 2024, Buchanan expressed his support for making daylight saving time permanent through legislation he is co-sponsoring with Senator Marco Rubio. He mentioned discussing the potential health and economic benefits of this change with notable figures including Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. “It’s time to end the antiquated practice of changing our clocks twice a year. That’s why Congress should pass my bill with @SenMarcoRubio to make daylight saving time permanent.”

Later that same day, Rep. Buchanan met with representatives from The Joint Commission and ArchangelsMe to discuss support for caregivers in his district which includes nearly 200,000 seniors. He stressed the importance of caregiving assistance for families striving to provide dignified care for their elderly loved ones.”Grateful to meet today with the @TJCommission and @ArchangelsMe to discuss the need to support caregivers.”
