Rep. Vern Buchanan, who has represented Florida’s 16th District in the U.S. Congress since succeeding Katherine Harris in 2007, recently shared updates about his ongoing engagements and commitments on his social media platform. On May 2, 2025, Buchanan shared his appreciation for meeting with Manatee County Commissioners and staff, expressing his ongoing commitment to address “key infrastructure and recovery priorities”. He stated his intention to keep collaborating with local officials to bring essential resources and support to Florida’s 16th District.

Later that day, Buchanan acknowledged National Space Day, celebrating the contributions of Florida’s Space Coast. He highlighted the region’s role in space exploration, stating “From launching rockets to pushing the boundaries of space exploration, Florida’s Space Coast continues to explore the great beyond.”

On May 4, 2025, Buchanan discussed his meeting with the leadership of Easter Seals Florida. Vern Buchanan was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1951 and resides in Sarasota, Florida. He is an alumnus of Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy. Buchanan’s career in public service also includes tenure in the Florida House of Representatives before his congressional service.
