He stated that “To Make America Healthy Again, we need to start investing in food as medicine.” He emphasized that better foods could lead to lower costs and healthier lives.

Later that day, Buchanan highlighted his visit to the Hillsborough County Emergency Operations Center. In a tweet posted on February 18, 2025, he acknowledged the ongoing storm recovery efforts following recent hurricanes. He thanked the emergency operations team by saying “Thank you to the men and women of the EOC who help us prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters.”

On February 19, 2025, Buchanan turned his attention to economic matters. Drawing on his experience as an entrepreneur and Vice Chair of the Ways and Means Committee, he expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Secretary Howard Lutnick to revitalize the economy.
