Rep. Vern Buchanan, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, recently shared his views on various national issues via social media posts dated June 5, 2025. Buchanan has been active in politics for several decades and resides in Sarasota, Florida.

On June 5, Buchanan tweeted about President Trump’s actions regarding China: “President Trump is dropping the hammer on China for violating its trade deal with the United States.” He emphasized that the president’s efforts are aimed at protecting American jobs and holding China accountable. He further described these actions as “Peace Through Strength” in action.

Later that day, Buchanan expressed his support for Speaker Johnson by tweeting: “.@SpeakerJohnson is the MOST CONSERVATIVE Speaker in history.” He conveyed pride in working alongside him to fulfill mandates such as cutting taxes for working families, securing borders, and enacting significant government spending reductions.

In another tweet posted on June 5, Buchanan addressed legislative efforts to strengthen SNAP and Medicaid programs through a bill referred to as “One Big, Beautiful Bill.” He stated: “The ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill’ strengthens SNAP and Medicaid by rooting out fraud and abuse.” According to him, this initiative aims to ensure that benefits reach veterans, seniors, and individuals with disabilities while not rewarding able-bodied adults who refuse to work.

Vern Buchanan was born in Detroit in 1951. His educational background includes degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
