Rep. Vern Buchanan, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 16th district, has shared his views on various national issues through a series of tweets. Buchanan, who succeeded Katherine Harris in 2007 and has been serving since then, addressed topics ranging from political trends to tax policies and immigration.

On March 17, 2025, Buchanan commented on the current political climate by stating that “The American people like what they see: @POTUS is UP and Dems are DOWN.” He noted that more registered voters believe the United States is heading in the right direction than at any point in over two decades, while also pointing out that the Democratic party has reached an all-time low.

On March 18, 2025, he expressed support for extending the Trump tax cuts. According to Buchanan, “Extending the Trump tax cuts ensures that American families and businesses continue to thrive.” He argued that under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), the bottom 50% of earners paid less in taxes while the top 1% contributed more than 45% of all income taxes.

Later on March 18, Buchanan addressed immigration policy with a focus on security concerns. He stated that “An American visa is a privilege, not a right.” Emphasizing national security priorities, he asserted that individuals supporting terrorists responsible for numerous deaths have no place in the United States.
