Rep. Vern Buchanan, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district, recently shared his views on various topics through social media posts. Known for his political career since 2007 and his previous tenure in the Florida House of Representatives, Buchanan expressed support for sports and criticized certain federal policies.

On March 20, 2025, Rep. Buchanan voiced his enthusiasm for college basketball by endorsing the University of Florida’s men’s basketball team during March Madness. He stated: “Only one right pick for #MarchMadness. Go @GatorsMBK! “

The following day, on March 21, 2025, he criticized the Biden administration’s stance on LNG exports. Buchanan claimed that the administration misled the public regarding its impact on global emissions: “The Biden admin’s ‘pause’ of LNG exports was a lie to the American people. Their own research showed that increased U.S. LNG exports would REDUCE global emissions.” He further emphasized that the House GOP is dedicated to enhancing international competitiveness and energy security.

Later that same day, Buchanan addressed misconceptions about tax reforms initiated under former President Trump. He asserted that these tax cuts benefit all Americans rather than just the wealthy: “Democrats will continue to lie that the Trump tax cuts only benefit the 1% while ignoring the fact that these cuts will significantly benefit all American households.” He highlighted that under Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), even those in lower income brackets experienced reduced federal tax rates.
