Vern Buchanan, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, has shared his views on various national issues through social media posts.

On December 6, 2024, Buchanan expressed his hopes for legislative support regarding military honors at Arlington National Cemetery. He stated, “Those who have selflessly served our country in uniform and are being laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery deserve a proper, honorable burial. I am hopeful Congress can include my bill in the final upcoming #NDAA.”

Later that day, Buchanan commented on the state of healthcare in the United States. On December 6, 2024, he remarked on social media about America’s health expenditure compared to its life expectancy ranking: “Truly shocking and heartbreaking. Despite spending trillions of dollars more on healthcare than other developed nations, the U.S. is on course to be 66th in life expectancy. We need to start addressing the root causes of what is leading Americans to be sicker and die sooner.”

On December 7, 2024, Buchanan commemorated Pearl Harbor Day by paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the attack. He wrote: “Today, we honor the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who gave their lives in service of their country at Pearl Harbor 83 years ago. We remember the fallen heroes and reaffirm our commitment to defending freedom and liberty. May we never forget their courage.”
