Vern Buchanan, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district, has been active on social media discussing various topics of interest to his constituents. His recent tweets cover National Pet Week, a Congressional Art Competition, and support for small business tax cuts.
On May 5, Buchanan highlighted National Pet Week, emphasizing the joy that pets bring into people’s lives. He mentioned his own experience as a pet parent alongside his wife Sandy, with their two Goldendoodles.
Later that day, Buchanan expressed excitement about the Congressional Art Competition. He noted that submissions from students in his district would be displayed in his Congressional offices if they receive the highest engagement by Friday, May 9.
On May 6, he shared that his constituents showed strong support for tax cuts for small businesses during a recent gathering. He described small businesses as “the backbone of our economy” and reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for necessary relief to help them create jobs and strengthen communities during National Small Business Week.
Vern Buchanan has served in the U.S. Congress since replacing Katherine Harris in 2007. Born in Detroit in 1951 and now residing in Sarasota, Buchanan graduated from Cleary University and later from the University of Detroit Mercy.
