Vern Buchanan, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, recently shared his perspectives on political and legislative matters through a series of tweets. Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1951, Buchanan has been an active figure in politics, succeeding Katherine Harris in Congress and previously serving in the Florida House of Representatives.

On May 14, 2025, Buchanan expressed his views on the impeachment proceedings against the President by stating that “Even House Democrats know that impeaching @POTUS is a political stunt.” He emphasized that while Democrats are experiencing internal conflicts, the Republican Party is focusing on delivering lower taxes for families and businesses, enhancing border security, and restoring American dominance.

In recognition of National Police Week on May 15, 2025, Buchanan acknowledged the efforts of law enforcement officers. He tweeted “During National Police Week, we honor the bravery and sacrifices of law enforcement officers in FL-16 and across the nation.” He extended gratitude to police officers for their dedication to public safety.

Later that day, Buchanan highlighted legislative progress made by the Ways and Means Committee. He stated “.@WaysandMeansGOP delivered on our promise to the American people by advancing the tax package out of committee.” He noted this as an example of “America First policy,” addressing former President Trump directly about a forthcoming bill.

Vern Buchanan resides in Sarasota and holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
