Representative Vern Buchanan, serving Florida’s 16th district since 2007, has highlighted key legislative actions and positions in recent tweets. Buchanan, who succeeded Katherine Harris and is a Cleary University and University of Detroit Mercy alumnus, has focused on a variety of political and economic issues in his latest social media updates.

On April 29, 2025, Buchanan posted a tweet praising President Trump’s initiatives as he declared, “President Trump is ushering in the Golden Age of America.” He elaborated on the President’s accomplishments with the current administration, including ending diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in the military, cutting taxes, and reducing waste, fraud, and abuse. Buchanan affirmed the @HouseGOP’s commitment to securing the administration’s goals.

That same day, Buchanan shared his support for the TICKET Act with another tweet at 18:37 UTC, stating, “Today, I voted for the TICKET Act, which ensures Americans have full transparency when buying event tickets.” He explained that the Act mandates sellers to disclose all fees upfront, thus protecting consumers from deceptive practices and ensuring they receive event refunds.

Later, the Congressman tweeted about health care, reporting, “We need higher care for lower costs.” He mentioned leading a letter, along with his colleagues from the Ways and Means Committee, to CMS Administrator and CMMI Director. The purpose of the communication was to propose cost-effective solutions aimed at eliminating waste and improving quality of care for Medicare and Medicaid recipients.

Vern Buchanan, at 71, continues to reside in Sarasota, having been born in Detroit, Michigan. He maintains a vested interest in legislative issues influencing both his district and the broader national stage.
