Representative Vern Buchanan, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, addressed several topics through tweets on March 26 and 27, 2025.

On March 26, Buchanan shared his view on voting rights through a tweet. He stated, “American elections are for Americans only. We don’t get to vote in other countries’ elections, so why should their citizens who are here illegally get to vote in ours? Another common-sense win for @POTUS!” This statement emphasizes Buchanan’s viewpoint on restricting voting rights to American citizens.

Later on March 26, Buchanan issued an update on hurricane relief measures. In his tweet, he announced, ” Hurricane Relief Update The @SBAgov is extending the physical damage loan deadline for areas affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Businesses, nonprofits, homeowners and renters impacted by these disasters now have until April 27, 2025, to apply for relief.” The update highlights the extension of the relief application deadline for those impacted by hurricanes.

On the following day, March 27, he focused on an environmental issue affecting Florida. Buchanan tweeted, “Harmful algal blooms, like red tide, devastate our economy and environment in Southwest Florida. That’s why I introduced legislation with @RepDarrenSoto to provide emergency federal assistance to states like Florida hard-hit by these natural disasters.” The tweet discusses legislation he introduced aimed at addressing the impact of harmful algal blooms through federal assistance.
