City of Wauchula issued the following announcement.
With the political season heating up, we'd like to take a moment to make everyone aware of the City's political signage regulations.
Article 4.04.02 (D) Political signs: for each lot, one sign no more than six square feet in area which are put in place no earlier than 60 days prior to the election or referendum to which they pertain. These political signs must be removed within 10 days after the election or referendum to which the sign relates is over. The persons responsible for the placement of political sign must be responsible for it removal.
Any person or persons should also check with the Supervisor of Elections and the Department of Transportation in Arcadia, Florida for further regulations.
Any deviation from the ordinance on type or placement of political signs will be handled by the zoning inspector. All applicable candidates will be notified by certified mail they must correct the problem within 5 working days or the sign will be removed by the zoning inspector. Removed signs will be placed in storage for the retrieval by the violating party. If after the election, the candidates have not retrieved their confiscated signs, a letter will be sent certified mail that if they are not picked-up within 10 working days after the election they will be discarded.
