Manatee Technical College issued the following announcement.
Manatee Technical College will reopen to students on August 6 and 7, 2020. MTC will run its programs in a hybrid format. Students will attend class on campus every other day and online on the other days of the week. This plan will give students the ability to do hands-on learning and keep the campuses at 50% capacity.
“MTC plays an important role in our community to train essential workers,” said MTC director Dr. Valerie Viands, “and to give people an opportunity to re-train for new employment possibilities.
“Re-opening on schedule will give students the possibility to complete their training and get (back) into the workforce,” said Viands.
Students will be required to wear masks, practice physical distancing, and limit mass gatherings.
MTC will be carefully limiting group sizes for all common areas, managing the use of shared equipment, and subjecting everyone to temperature screenings each time they walk in the building.
“While MTC is taking steps to reduce the risk of Covid-19,” Viands said, “ultimately it is a shared responsibility.”
Students still have time to apply. For class schedules and all back-to-school information, please visit the MTC website at www.ManateeTech.edu.
