New College of Florida professor Katherine Walstrom donates $200 to Julian Castro's campaign

Katherine Walstrom, a professor at New College of Florida, donated $200 to Democratic Party candidate Julian Castro, according to the Federal Election Commission.

According to records, there have been $2,342 in campaign contributions made by individuals affiliated with New College of Florida as of November 3. All of these contributions were made to Democratic Party candidates and committees.

Katherine Walstrom's contribution of $1,000 to Democratic Party Charlie Joseph Crist was the largest contribution made by someone affiliated with New College of Florida since January 1, 2019.

According to an Inside Higher Ed analysis of federal elections data, individuals that were affiliated with colleges and universities have donated five times more money to Joe Biden than to President Trump. A study by Pew Research in 2017 found that 58 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents thought colleges and universities have a negative impact on the way things are going in this country.
