Manatee County Public Library issued the following announcement on Aug. 12.
Manatee County Administrator Dr. Scott Hopes today announced that the County's six public library branches will close to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Yesterday, the Downtown Central Library closed and announced a reopening date of Aug. 16. However, Dr. Hopes said the significant spike in COVID cases in recent weeks has prompted the closure of the libraries.
As a result, Downtown Central Library, five other branch locations and the Little Discovery Center will close tonight at their usual times. They are planned to reopen for normal weekly hours beginning Aug. 23.
