4

Edward Waters College Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 10.

After spending their first five matches of the season on the road, the Edward Waters women's soccer squad were finally able to enjoy the comforts of home on Thursday evening, hosting the Warriors of Webber International University. Unfortunately for the Purple & Orange, they ran into a buzzsaw, falling 10-2 at the Nathaniel Glover Community Field & Stadium.

Webber International (3-0) raced out to a 3-0 lead to start the match, before sophomore midfielder Rayven Norman was able to put the Lady Tigers on the board in the 45th minute to bring EWU within two at 3-1 going into the halftime break.

The second 45 minutes proved to be incredibly unkind to EWU, as Webber scored the first four goals of the second half to take a commanding 7-1 lead.

Sophomore forward Ibukun (Mercy) Lawson put EWU on the board once again in the 68th minute to make it a 7-2 game.

Unfortunately for the home team, Webber scored the last three goals of the match to run away with a 10-2 victory, sending EWU to their third consecutive loss.

Webber International outshot Edward Waters 27-10 including a 17-9 edge in shots on goal.

Sophomore midfielder Amy Hernandez led Edward Waters with three shots, all on goal.

Edward Waters will look to right the ship on Monday, September 13th at home against Florida National. Kickoff from the Nathaniel Glover Community Field and Stadium is set for 3:00pm and will be live streamed on the Edward Waters Athletics YouTube Channel.
