State College of Florida-Manatee-Sarasota issued the following announcement on Sept. 14.
State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), in partnership with World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.), is offering a personal trainer certification course with virtual instructor-led lectures and in-person practical skill labs. The program begins Saturday, Sept. 25, and will conclude with an in-person certification exam Saturday, Nov. 6. Virtual lectures are scheduled each Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon followed by in-person practical skill labs at the gym from 1-4 p.m. Register online at SCF.edu/Training and click on the Fitness Certifications link in the Health/Fitness submenu on the left-hand side of the page.
The course schedule also will include short online videos and study tools designed by fitness experts to help students become successful personal trainers. The lessons will address important topics such as anatomy, exercise physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, nutrition and more. The in-person practical skill labs will allow participants to review essential hands-on skills to master assessing clients, stretching, warm-ups/cool-downs, exercise analysis and programming design. Both features, unique to certification training programs, are included at no extra cost.
Those who complete the course activities and exam will receive a Level 1 Certified Personal Trainer credential. W.I.T.S. also offers a supplemental Level 2 Certification for completing an internship program that can open doors to job opportunities.
