State College of Florida Manatee issued the following announcement on October 14.
(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 14, 2021) — Nationally certified third-degree black belt instructor, Zackery McMurray, will offer a self-defense workshop from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 2 (women only) and Nov. 9 (adults 55 and older), and Thursday, Nov. 4 (all ages), at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Tr., Building 800, Selby Room. Register online at SCF.edu/Training and click on the Self-Defense link in the Personal Enrichment submenu on the left-hand side of the page.
All skill levels are welcome to attend the workshop. These introductory classes will cover evaluating the four levels of conflict, learning self-defense tactics, and practicing strikes, kicks, blocks, takedowns and other moves. Participants should wear regular gym clothes and workout shoes that do not restrict body movement. Jewelry should be left at home.
