State College of Florida Manatee issued the following announcement on October 14.
Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 14, 2021) — SCF is proud to announce that for the first time in the college’s history, women hold the roles of president, SCF District Board of Trustees chair, SCF Foundation board chair and the Foundation’s executive director. The distinction was recognized with proclamations from Manatee and Sarasota counties designating Sept. 28, 2021, as Women in Leadership Day at SCF.
To celebrate this milestone and each other, more than 30 women came together the afternoon of Sept. 28 for a reception. SCF President Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld, SCF District Board of Trustees Chair Tracy Knight and SCF Foundation Board Chair Dorothy Korszen delivered keynote speeches. At least 50% of those in attendance were among the first women to serve in their respective leadership roles.
Knight is the first woman to serve as the chair of the SCF District Board of Trustees since 1974. She has served as a trustee since 2017.
“Tracy Knight was integral in establishing our 2021-2026 Strategic Plan while serving as the board’s strategic plan liaison,” Probstfeld said. “I’m eager to work with her as SCF boldly leads the way in providing opportunities for a successful future for our community.”
Probstfeld, Knight, Korzsen and SCF Foundation Executive Director Cassandra Holmes are committed to working together and continuing to guide the college through the complexities of higher education in this era. Their combined leadership and talents are an important reason SCF is the community's first choice for higher education, economic development, philanthropic investment and cultural fulfillment.
