Edward Waters College Athletics issued the following announcement on Nov. 18.
The Edward Waters men's basketball team's first taste of life in the SIAC was bitter as the Tigers were throttled, 95-50 by Miles College on Wednesday evening at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
The Tigers (3-2) struggled mightily from the floor, shooting just 34.5% on 19-55 shooting, compared to 60.7% for the Golden Bears (2-0) on 37-61 shooting.
Turnovers were detrimental to the EWU efforts in the contest as 16 Tiger turnovers turned into 26 Miles points. Miles also scored 38 points in the paint compared to 22 for Edward Waters. The Miles reserves thoroughly outscored the Edward Waters bench, 43-9 in the contest.
Junior forward Khalil Brown led Edward Waters with 18 points and five rebounds, while senior guard/forward Elias Harden chipped in with 14 points and four rebounds for the Tigers.
Edward Waters will host GrandView University on Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm in their next action. Due to construction happening at the Adams-Jenkins Community Sports & Music Complex, the game will be played at Florida State College at Jacksonville's South Campus Gymnasium.
