Lady Tigers Crush Georgia College in Home Win

Edward Waters College Athletics issued the following announcement on Nov. 18.

A focused and determined Edward Waters women's basketball squad dominated NCAA Division II and Peach Belt Conference member Georgia College on Wednesday evening, 78-51 at the Adams-Jenkins Community Sports & Music Complex.

From start to finish, the Lady Tigers (5-0) had a firm grip of the contest rolling out to a 29-9 first quarter. Georgia College (1-2) had a slightly better second quarter, outscoring EWC 13-10, but the Purple & Orange still maintanied a 39-22 halftime advantage.

The second half was owned by Edward Waters, thanks to their defensive pressure and hot shooting as the Lady Tigers were able to keep their undefeated record in tact.

EWU forced 25 Bobcat turnovers that turned into 27 points for the Lady Tigers. Edward Waters also got the job done on the boards, outrebounding GC 45-38. For the contest, Edward Waters outshot Georgia College 43.7% to 38.2% and had a much better free throw night, finishing 12-14 for 85.7%. 

Graduate student La'Quanza Glover led Edward Waters by picking up her third double-double effort of the season and 53rd of her career with a game high 24 points and 13 rebounds. Senior guard Sha'Kawanza Brown and junior center Emari Bell each had 15 points to round out the EWU double digit scorers.

Edward Waters will next have their first SIAC home contest on Saturday, November 20th as the Lady Tigers will welcome the Lady Tigers of Benedict College at 4:00pm. Due to construction happening at the Adams-Jenkins Complex. the contest will take place at Florida State College at Jacksonville's South Campus Gymnasium.
