FDOT Improvement Work on US 17

City of Wauchula recently issued the following announcement.

The Florida Department of Transportation will begin work on January 10, 2022, to make improvements to US 17 from Bell Street to south of Heartland Way in Hardee County. This project will begin on January 10, 2022, and is less than a mile in length. The project limits are shown. 

Project Improvements:

-Repave and widen portions of US 17 from Bell Street to south of Heartland Way

-Install new signage and pavement markers

-Improve drainage

-Estimated construction cost is $1.3 million

Project Schedule:

-Construction begins January 10, 2022; estimated completion is summer 2022

-During construction there will be nighttime lane closures on northbound and southbound US 17

-Portions of US 17 will be closed during construction. Please follow detour signs and use caution in the work zones
