Manatee Technical College recently issued the following announcement.
Twenty-six Manatee Technical College students won medals in nine competitive events at the Florida Region 6 SkillsUSA Conference held at MTC on February 10. Students from
five technical colleges and one high school competed in 15 skills and leadership events: nine in the College Division and six in the High School Division.
In the College Division, MTC students won gold, silver, and bronze in Barbering (Jordian Perez, Carlos Suarez, and Jaden Damico), Cosmetology (Christian Melenez, Genesis
Martinez, and Izabela Tapia), Welding (Jeffrey Small, Diego Urbina, and Alvaro Pallares), and the team event Welding Fabrication (Gold: Diego Munoz, Ryan Ciolino, Daniel
Simmons; Silver: Nicholas Daigle, Dylan Ogrizovich, Dean Rollins; and Bronze: Eric Morgan, Clinton Matthews, Edward Riverra-Alicea). MTC students took gold and silver in
Marine Service Technology (Logan LaFave and Terry Jones); gold and bronze in Medical Terminology (Luis Solarzano and Amanda Vilardi); and silver and bronze in Culinary Arts
(Brianna Brookins and Nicholas Klauber).
In the High School Division, MTC student Tyler Lewis won gold in Automotive Service Technology, and Alex Matheny won bronze in Culinary Arts.
Many winners will advance to the state competition to be held April 18-21, 2022, in Jacksonville.
