SCF Board of Trustees Report: October 25, 2022

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) District Board of Trustees (BOT) held its regular monthly meeting virtually and in-person with essential staff and trustees on Oct. 25.

The board heard presentations on:

  • Spring enrollment report and funding model overview from Dr. Ryan Hale, vice president of institutional effectiveness.
  • A summary of proposed new SCF rule 6HX14-5.02, pertaining to student fees, from SCF President Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld.
The board approved:

  • Nonfinancial and financial consent agenda items with a revision to Exhibit G amending the grant amount to $545,000 and removing partners Blake Medical Center, Doctor’s Hospital of Sarasota, and Manatee County Rural Health Care.
  • A contract in the amount of $134,999.70 with Thermo Fisher Scientific to provide laboratory equipment for the Venice Science Building at SCF Venice.
  • A contract in the amount of $100,987.24 to provided furniture for the Venice Science Building at SCF Venice.
  • A contract in the amount of $668,421 with Willis Smith Construction to replace the stage lift and remodel the restrooms in the SCF Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton.
  • An increase in the overall budget from $450,000 to $681,039.53 to replace the radiography x-ray equipment and renovate the adjacent teaching space at SCF Bradenton.
  • A contract in the amount of $640,133.53 with Jon Swift Construction to replace the radiography x-ray equipment and renovate the adjacent teaching space at SCF Bradenton.
  • A project in the amount of $1 million to upgrade the audio-video technology in classrooms at SCF Bradenton, SCF Lakewood Ranch, and SCF Venice.
  • Prequalification of a list of contractors for SCF general construction projects costing $50,000 to $1 million.  
The next board meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2022, at SCF Bradenton.
