SCF Music Schedule for November 2022

The Music Program at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will present the following performances Nov. 4-Nov. 28. Tickets for each performance can be purchased online at SCF.edu/Neel or by calling 941-752-5252. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $5 for SCF students and staff unless otherwise noted.

“Into the Woods” — Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2 p.m., SCF Neel Performing Arts Center

Favorite fairy tale worlds collide as a baker and his wife travel through the woods attempting to reverse the curse of a mischievous witch in order to have a child. Along their way, they meet Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and other characters who are also on a quest to fulfill their own wishes. Soon the stories become entangled and reveal what really happens "happily ever after."

“Beat Hunger” — Thursday, Nov. 10, 7:30 p.m., SCF Neel Performing Arts Center

The SCF Percussion Ensemble takes the audience on a journey through the world of percussion instruments at the second annual “Beat Hunger” concert. No tickets are required, but attendees are asked to donate two canned food items to support the SCF Food Bank.

“Community Piano Recital” – Monday, Nov. 14, 7 p.m., Studio for the Performing Arts Recital Hall

Students of all experience levels and ages perform in this community-based recital, presented free and open to the public. This popular annual recital offers piano students from throughout the community an opportunity to showcase their talents.

“Magnificent Seven” — Thursday, Nov. 17, 7:30 p.m., SCF Neel Performing Arts Center

The SCF Bradenton Symphony Orchestra celebrates its seventh season. To celebrate the occasion, the evening’s program will include a pair of sensational sevens. The performance features Elmer Bernstein’s main theme from the film “The Magnificent Seven” and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. The concert will also feature a performance of Franz Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony.”

“SCF Fall Piano Recital” – Monday, Nov. 28, 7 p.m., Studio for the Performing Arts Recital Hall

Piano students from beginner to advanced levels perform the pieces they have been preparing all semester. Students include both traditional degree-seeking students and lifelong learners, as SCF offers lessons on multiple instruments through the Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development division. The keyboard faculty teaches students who study piano in preparation for their continued pursuit of a music degree as well as those who study piano for their own enjoyment as an elective.
