Today, Congressman Vern Buchanan announced his membership in the bipartisan DOGE Caucus within the U.S. House of Representatives. The caucus aims to collaborate with President-elect Trump's proposed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to address wasteful spending and reduce federal bureaucracy.

Buchanan highlighted the urgency of tackling national debt, which has reached $36 trillion. He stated, "The national debt has surpassed an astounding $36 trillion, yet Congress has not balanced the budget in more than two decades." He emphasized that the federal government wastes significant taxpayer dollars annually, citing reports of $2.7 trillion in fraudulent and improper payments by federal agencies since 2003.

Expressing support for President-elect Trump's focus on reducing wasteful spending, Buchanan remarked, "It’s beyond time to reign in wasteful spending once and for all and stop the madness. That’s why I am so pleased that President-elect Trump is making this a major focus of his new administration."

The House DOGE Caucus is chaired by Representatives Aaron Bean, Pete Sessions, and Blake Moore. Buchanan has consistently advocated for legislative measures to cut unnecessary federal spending and manage national debt. Recently, he reintroduced a constitutional amendment (H.J.Res. 3) requiring Congress to balance the federal budget.
