Rep. Vern Buchanan, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 16th district, has been vocal on social media about issues concerning national security and child safety. Through a series of tweets, he has addressed topics ranging from gang-related violence to disaster relief funding.

On February 10, 2025, Buchanan expressed concerns about violent gangs such as MS-13 and Tren de Aragua. He stated that these groups have "sent thousands of illegal aliens into our country, bringing crime, drugs and terror." He called for congressional action to pass his bill aimed at deporting and permanently banning these criminals from the United States. "Violent gangs such as MS-13 and Tren de Aragua have sent thousands of illegal aliens into our country, bringing crime, drugs and terror."

The following day, February 11, 2025, Buchanan emphasized the importance of child safety in another tweet. He highlighted the rising issue of sexual exploitation of children and announced his collaboration with fellow representatives Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Jared Moskowitz to combat human trafficking and ban the sale of obscene child sex dolls. "Nothing is more important than the safety of our children."

Later on February 11, Buchanan criticized the allocation of resources by FEMA in response to recent hurricanes in Florida. He described it as "absolutely absurd" that constituents were still seeking assistance while illegal immigrants were accommodated in luxury hotels. He argued that taxpayer dollars should prioritize disaster relief over other expenses. "Absolutely ABSURD that thousands of my constituents in Florida are still seeking help from @FEMA after back-to-back hurricanes while illegal aliens get put up in luxury hotels."
