The State College of Florida Foundation will host 22nd Annual Scholarship Luncheon, presented by Suncoast Federal Credit Union, on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.at Michael’s On East in Sarasota. This year’s luncheon celebrates 65 years of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) providing higher education opportunities, cultural enrichment and economic prosperity in the community.

This luncheon brings together students, donors, and SCF staff and faculty volunteers to celebrate scholarship students and their achievements. Every year, scholarship students are given the opportunity to meet the generous donors who help make their education possible while enjoying a delicious meal from one of Sarasota’s most iconic restaurants. Guests can participate in a prize drawing, network with business leaders and participate in the scholarship pinning ceremony.

The SCF Foundation is excited to announce the keynote speaker this year will be Dr. LaShawn Frost, SCF alumnae and Principal of Booker Middle School. Frost, who attended SCF while it was Manatee Community College in 1989-90, has held her current position for more than a decade and earned recognition as Principal of the Year for Sarasota County in 2019. Her passion for leadership and service are embodies within her motto at Booker: Where inner talent becomes outer strength.

“Every child has a talent and a passion for something,” says Frost. “They know who they are, and we should be helping develop that and helping them see where that talent and passion can lead for their future.”

In addition to Dr. Frost, a student speaker will highlight how the SCF Foundation made a difference in their lives and those around them.

The pre-event paddle raise is a new feature of this year’s scholarship luncheon. Generous supporters who cannot attend this year’s event can make a pre-event paddle raise pledge, and their donations will be announced as the kick-off of the paddle raise.

Tickets for the SCF Foundation Annual Scholarship Luncheon are now on sale. Individual Tickets are $100, and full tables and sponsorships are also available.
