Rep. Vern Buchanan, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district, has been vocal on social media about various policy issues. Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1951 and residing in Sarasota, Buchanan has been a congressional representative since 2007 after succeeding Katherine Harris.

On May 21, 2025, Buchanan emphasized American energy independence by stating “Drill, baby, drill.” He outlined plans to reverse policies from the Biden administration that he claims are detrimental to jobs. Additionally, he highlighted investments in U.S. energy infrastructure and efforts to reduce costs for families.

In another post on the same day, Buchanan expressed his commitment to economic prosperity and protecting the American Dream. He urged the passage of what he referred to as the “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” aimed at restoring economic stability. He assured constituents that promises made would be promises kept.

Later that day, Buchanan addressed veteran health care by advocating for improved nutrition as a preventive measure rather than solely treating illnesses. He shared an op-ed published in The Washington Times on this topic and encouraged support for veterans through better health initiatives “Improving veteran health through nutrition is a cause we can all rally behind.”

Vern Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy and has also served in the Florida House of Representatives before his tenure in Congress.
