On June 4, 2025, Rep. Buchanan expressed his pleasure in meeting with local realtors from Manatee County to discuss their efforts in securing homes for residents in Florida’s 16th district. He highlighted the importance of supporting policies that facilitate homeownership and tackle the nationwide housing crisis.
Later that day, Buchanan announced his vote in favor of the Connecting Small Businesses with Career and Technical Education Graduates Act. As a lifelong businessman himself, he underscored the necessity of hiring skilled workers and described how this legislation aids small businesses in recruiting qualified graduates.
On June 5, 2025, Buchanan turned his attention to agricultural issues. Vern Buchanan was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1951 and currently resides in Sarasota. He graduated from Cleary University with a BA and later from the University of Detroit Mercy.
