Rep. Vern Buchanan, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, recently shared insights on various legislative matters through his social media platform. The congressman emphasized his commitment to addressing issues related to housing, employment, and agricultural support.

On June 4, 2025, Rep. Buchanan expressed his pleasure in meeting with local realtors from Manatee County to discuss their efforts in securing homes for residents in Florida’s 16th district. He highlighted the importance of supporting policies that facilitate homeownership and tackle the nationwide housing crisis.

Later that day, Buchanan announced his vote in favor of the Connecting Small Businesses with Career and Technical Education Graduates Act. As a lifelong businessman himself, he underscored the necessity of hiring skilled workers and described how this legislation aids small businesses in recruiting qualified graduates.

On June 5, 2025, Buchanan turned his attention to agricultural issues. In a post on social media, he noted the hard work of America’s farmers and affirmed that @HouseGOP is making sure they have the relief and support to keep growing. He highlighted the “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” which aims to provide immediate tax relief by restoring full expensing for equipment vital for future harvests.

Vern Buchanan was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1951 and currently resides in Sarasota. He graduated from Cleary University with a BA and later from the University of Detroit Mercy.
