Representative Vern Buchanan, who has served in the U.S. Congress since 2007 and represents Florida’s 16th district, shared a sequence of thoughts and updates via his social media accounts.
On April 26, Buchanan expressed his concern over California’s decision regarding an illegal immigrant, stating, “California is preparing to release a twice-deported illegal immigrant after he killed two American teenagers in a drunk driving crash. OUTRAGEOUS.” He further emphasized the commitment of President Joe Biden and the House Republicans to border security and the enforcement of laws.
Later that same day, Buchanan shared his meeting with Marcus Walfridson, the founder and CEO of SRQ Paradise. He elaborated on his optimism about the club’s potential impact on the community, stating, “I look forward to seeing how the club continues to foster a strong sense of community spirit and make a difference in the lives of our local youth!”
On April 27, Buchanan spoke about his meeting with Christine Olson, the founder of TIFF’s Initiative (To Inform Families First). Reflecting on the program’s impact, he said, “For 20 years, they’ve successfully strengthened communications between first responders and families in Florida. I look forward to seeing this program go.” TIFF’s Initiative focuses on improving communication in emergencies, benefitting family members and first responders.
Buchanan, originally from Detroit and currently residing in Sarasota, has also held a degree from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
