Rep. Vern Buchanan, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district, has been vocal on various issues through his social media posts. Known for his political career which began in the Florida House of Representatives and later transitioned to Congress in 2007, Buchanan recently shared several tweets addressing topics from historical figures to current legislative matters.

On February 6, 2025, Buchanan commemorated the birthday of former President Ronald Reagan. In his tweet, he expressed admiration for Reagan’s commitment to public service and credited him with inspiring his own political journey. “Happy birthday to America’s 40th President, Ronald Reagan! President Reagan’s faithful dedication to public service is what first sparked my interest in politics and ultimately inspired me to run for public office.”

A day later, on February 7, 2025, Buchanan highlighted a statement by Secretary Bessent regarding tax legislation. He emphasized the necessity for making the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent to avoid significant tax increases that could affect numerous families across the nation. “Secretary Bessent is right: @POTUS has a mandate to make the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent. Failing to act will lead to the largest tax hike in history for millions of hardworking families.”

On February 8, 2025, Buchanan attended the LPGA Founder’s Cup event held in Bradenton where he met professional golfer Nelly Korda. He noted having an engaging conversation with Korda about her experience playing locally and humorously mentioned seeking tips for improving his golf swing. “It was great attending the @LPGA Founder’s Cup in Bradenton today. I had the chance to meet Bradenton’s own @NellyKorda and ask her what it was like having the chance to play in her own backyard. I can definitely use some of her pointers for my swing!”
