Rep. Vern Buchanan, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2007, recently shared updates on various initiatives and interactions via his Twitter account. Representing Florida’s 16th district, Buchanan engages with both local communities and broader national issues.

On March 5, 2025, Rep. Buchanan expressed his appreciation for firefighters by tweeting “Honored to sit down with the Florida Professional Firefighters (@FPF343) and receive this patch from local Tampa Firefighters. Thank you for fighting to protect Floridians, and I’m proud to stand with you! “.

Later that day, he announced the opening of submissions for a competition aimed at young artists: “My office is now accepting submissions for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition! This is open to any high school student living within our district. Submit your original artwork on my website ~ deadline is April 21, 2025 at 5:00 PM”.

The following day, March 6, 2025, Buchanan addressed concerns about American universities in another tweet: “American universities are for AMERICANS first. Our ‘elite’ universities shouldn’t receive generous tax benefits while refusing to enroll American students and condoning anti-American beliefs. My bill is clear: Enroll more Americans or pay the price.”
