Rep. Vern Buchanan, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district, has been vocal on several issues through his recent tweets. He has expressed concerns about IRS authority, advocated for hostage release efforts, and announced legislative successes.

On December 11, 2024, Rep. Buchanan shared his views regarding the IRS’s role in tax processes. He stated: “Providing the IRS with the sole authority to act as tax preparer, filer and auditor is the definition of fox in the henhouse.” He thanked fellow representatives Chuck Edwards and Adrian Smith for their efforts to counter this proposal.

The following day, December 12, 2024, he reflected on a meeting concerning hostages held by Hamas. He described it as “Extremely sobering and heart-wrenching”, emphasizing the urgency of securing their release. He extended gratitude to AJC Global for their continued efforts.

Later that same day, Rep. Buchanan announced legislative progress with eight of his amendments passing in the House’s defense policy bill. He tweeted: “BREAKING: Eight of my amendments just passed the House as part of this year’s defense policy bill!”
