Waste Management Engages Hurricane Preparedness in Advance of Tropical Storm Ian

0Comments

Please be advised that WM has engaged its Hurricane Preparedness Protocol and we are closely watching Tropical Storm Ian.  Our WM Florida team conducted practice-runs and initial storm preparation last week ahead of Hurricane Fiona and have many resources to share with our region should we receive damaging effects from the storm.  We are conducting daily calls with the WM Florida Area team beginning this past Friday morning and continuing through storm landfall and thereafter.

WM Manatee Senior District Manager Jason White and his staff have begun sweeping all areas for yard waste and will be bringing in additional personnel as needed on Monday to continue the sweeps.  We strongly discourage residents from creating additional yard waste piles over the early part of the week, as they may not be collected in advance of the storm.

We encourage residents to visit www.WMFloridaStorm.com for real-time updates regarding collection before, during, and after the storm.  Please see the attached announcement for your social media platforms.  If Tropical Storm Ian becomes a hurricane, the website will be updated with information specific to this storm.

We will be in contact with all our Manatee County municipalities on Monday and into the next week regarding any storm impacts related to the county landfill and transfer station operations.  We will provide additional notifications as warranted.  In the meantime, can you please share with me any Emergency Operations calls that are scheduled to take place at the County?  My role is to be available for these calls and communicate applicable information to our local and Florida Area teams.
