48 hours removed from a tough home loss to Lane, Edward Waters was able to get off of the proverbial mat with a solid 57-45 home win over LeMoyne-Owen in an SIAC cross-divisional matchup Wednesday evening at the James Weldon Johnson Auxiliary Gymnasium. The victory for the Lady Tigers was also able to snap a two-game losing skid.

Edward Waters (6-7, 2-5 SIAC) came out of the gates determined to snap their skid, getting the job done on both ends of the floor. EWU shot out to a quick six point lead in the contest at the end of the first quarter and were able to add to it in the second. The Purple & Orange took their first double-digit lead of the contest midway through the second quarter, leading 17-7. LeMoyne-Owen (4-9, 1-6 SIAC) cut the Lady Tiger lead down to six with two minutes remaining in the quarter, but EWU went on a run that was capped off with a Lee'Sha Henry three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Lady Tigers a 25-14 lead at the half.

The Lady Magicians started the second half on a an 8-0 run over the first four minutes of the third quarter to cut the EWU lead to four at 25-21. EWU responded with a 12-0 run of their own to push the lead back out to double-digits at 37-21 with two minutes remaining in the quarter. Edward Waters ultimately closed out the third leading 42-28. The advantage built up in the third quarter proved to be enough to be carried in the fourth as EWU was able to close out LOC to earn a much needed 12-point home win.

Edward Waters shot 34.0% from the floor, but were hot from beyond the arc, hitting 53.3% from three point range. The Lady Tiger defensive effort was solid as well, holding LeMoyne-Owen to just 24.2% shooting and 12.% shooting from three. Molly Ragle led all scorers with 14 points, including going 4-of-7 from three. Anissa Tuitt finished with 11 points and went 3-of-4 from three for Edward Waters.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, January 7th as they will host SIAC East Division foe Albany State at 1:00pm at the Adams-Jenkins Complex.
