Today, Congressman Vern Buchanan expressed his support for President Trump's recent executive order aimed at increasing transparency in health care pricing. As Vice Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee and Chairman of the Health Subcommittee, Buchanan released a statement highlighting the potential benefits of this directive.
"Americans have a right to know the true cost of their health care," Buchanan stated. He emphasized that the executive order represents "a significant step toward empowering patients and making health care more affordable." According to Buchanan, greater transparency will foster competition, reduce costs, and prevent families from facing unexpected medical expenses.
Buchanan also criticized the previous administration's handling of health care reforms. "After years of the Biden Administration failing to implement the No Surprises Act to protect against surprise medical billing, I applaud President Trump for putting patients first and making our health care system more accountable," he said.
In his role on the Health Subcommittee, Buchanan oversees various aspects of Medicare, including traditional Medicare services, prescription drug benefits, and Medicare Advantage plans.
The announcement aligns with Buchanan's ongoing efforts in Congress to address health care issues. Related initiatives include bills aimed at expanding access to telehealth services and improving lung cancer screenings.
