Rep. Vern Buchanan, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, has recently taken to social media to communicate his views on economic policies and tax day. Buchanan, a longtime advocate of the Trump tax cuts, is currently serving in Congress after replacing Katherine Harris in 2007. Born in Detroit in 1951 and a resident of Sarasota, Buchanan has a history of service in both the U.S. Congress and the Florida House of Representatives. His educational background includes degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.

On April 3, 2025, Buchanan posted on social media regarding the upcoming tax day, stating, " days until Tax Day! Small businesses suffered severe losses under the terrible economic policies of the Biden administration. Extending the Trump tax cuts will give Main Street the opportunity to thrive and create even more jobs for the American people!" Buchanan emphasized the detrimental impact he believes the current administration's policies have had on small businesses.

In a subsequent post on April 4, 2025, Buchanan continued his focus on tax policies by noting that tax day was in "#TaxDay is in days! Under the TCJA, the median household income in the U.S. rose by $5,000, and the lowest 10% of earners saw the largest wage growth. @WaysandMeansGOP is fighting for the American people by extending the Trump tax cuts!" He highlighted the reported economic benefits experienced during the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act era.

Later that same day, Buchanan shared "Great news! The economy added 228,000 jobs in March, blowing market expectations out of the water by OVER 60 PERCENT. @HouseGOP is focused on Making America Wealthy Again!" in response to surprising job growth data, framing it as evidence of successful economic efforts by Republican lawmakers.
