Buchanan has supported policies favorable to Florida’s fruit and vegetable sectors and has consistently advocated for equitable trade. He previously sent two letters to then-Biden administration's U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Raimondo, urging the termination of the 2019 Tomato Suspension Agreement to protect the American tomato industry. Buchanan also introduced the Defending Domestic Produce Protection Act, aimed at assisting Florida fruit and vegetable growers in opposing illegal seasonal dumping and unfair trade practices by Mexico.
