On April 16, 2025, Buchanan expressed his commitment to economic stabilization and job preservation in Florida, warning against potential repercussions if the TCJA tax cuts expire. He stated, “If the TCJA tax cuts expire, #FL16 will face: 10,000 lost jobs $800M in lost wages $1.8B in lost economic output.” He advocated for extending the Trump tax cuts with the remark that “failure is not an option.”
A following tweet on April 17, 2025, saw Buchanan commend law enforcement for their prompt response to a shooting at Florida State University. He conveyed his condolences, saying he was “Grateful for the quick response by law enforcement to the shooting at FSU. Our prayers are with the victims, their families and the FSU community.”

Buchanan, who resides in Sarasota, Florida, and was born in Detroit in 1951, earned his degree in 1975 from Cleary University and later graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy in 1986.
