Final Deputy Administrator Named

Manatee County has named Mitchell Teitelbaum, Esq., as its newest Deputy County Administrator. This completes the roster of Deputy Administrators overseeing day-to-day operations of the County.

Teitelbaum has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from New York University and a Juris Doctorate from Yeshiva University in New York. He has been admitted to the State Bars for California, New York and Florida.

For the past eight-and-a-half years, Teitelbaum has been the General Counsel for the School District of Manatee County—with additional duties as Assistant Superintendent since March 2022—providing oversight of five departments (Office of Professional Standards, Records Management, Risk Management, Charter Schools and Legal Department), negotiation of pending litigation and advice to district leadership.

In his new role—which will begin in December—Teitelbaum will have oversight of Human Resources, Economic Development, Magistrate Hearings for Code Enforcement, Public Records and Information Outreach, as well as Transit and Fleet Operations. His appointment to the new position was approved unanimously by the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners today.

“I am so delighted to continue my public service to this community,” said Teitelbaum. “I am thankful to the County Administrator and the Board of County Commissioners for this opportunity to continue to serve the people of Manatee County.”

“This rounds out the redesign of Manatee County Government,” said County Administrator Scott Hopes. “It aligns various departments and divisions with deputies’ experience, skillset and education.”

The Board of County Commissioners also unanimously approved Sheila McLean as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Manatee County. The 35-year accounting veteran had been the County’s interim CFO since May 2022.

“She is an exceptional resource,” said Dr. Hopes. “This confirmation is long overdue.”
