Rep. Vern Buchanan, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing Florida’s 16th district, took to Twitter to discuss key legislative initiatives. With a consistent focus on time management and legal accountability, Buchanan communicated his policy positions and legislative efforts in his recent social media posts.

On April 11, 2025, Rep. Buchanan expressed gratitude to @SenTedCruz for conducting a hearing on the concept of "locking the clock." Buchanan stated, "Americans are tired of the twice-a-year time switch. The House needs to pass my Sunshine Protection Act to make daylight saving time PERMANENT."

Later that day, he reiterated his stance on daylight saving time, aligning himself with President Trump's views. In a tweet, Buchanan endorsed the idea of making daylight saving time permanent for increased sunshine exposure, saying “President Trump is right! Permanent daylight saving time is the right choice for more sunshine.” He added a call to action to pass his Sunshine Protection Act.

On the same day, Buchanan addressed the issue of COVID-19 related financial misconduct, highlighting significant losses attributed to fraud. “COVID fraudsters stole over $100 BILLION in unemployment benefits, and the govt. is running out of time to prosecute these criminals,” he tweeted. Buchanan emphasized the necessity of passing @RepJasonSmith’s Pandemic Unemployment Fraud Enforcement Act to meet the President's directive to curb waste, fraud, and abuse.

Rep. Vern Buchanan began his congressional career in 2007, succeeding Katherine Harris. He was born in Detroit in 1951 and resides in Sarasota. Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
