Congressman Vern Buchanan, along with Congressman Darrell Issa and Congressman Byron Donalds, has introduced the Protecting Our Communities from Sexual Predators Act aimed at ensuring that illegal immigrants convicted of sexual assault are deported and permanently banned from the United States.

Buchanan emphasized the importance of the legislation by stating, “Illegal aliens who sexually assault and rape American citizens have absolutely no place in our society.” He highlighted the need for immediate deportation of illegal immigrants convicted of sexual assault to keep communities safe.

Congressman Issa also voiced his support for the bill, criticizing the impact of Biden's open borders and stating, “In every region of this country, illegal migrant criminals – including sexually violent predators – have inflicted unimaginable suffering and it’s time to fight back.” He expressed pride in collaborating with Buchanan and Donalds to address this issue and prevent further victimization of innocent Americans.

Congressman Donalds echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the urgency of deporting illegal aliens convicted of sexual assault to prevent such crimes. He highlighted a recent incident in Southwest Florida where a member of the community was sexually assaulted by an illegal alien, attributing the crime to the open border policies.

The legislation proposes measures such as requiring detention of illegal aliens charged or convicted of sexual assault, immediate deportation of those convicted, and a permanent ban on reentry into the country for such individuals.

The bill comes in response to alarming statistics since President Joe Biden took office, with millions of illegal crossings nationwide and an estimated 1.8 million known gotaways evading detection. The legislation has gained the endorsement of NumbersUSA.

In addition to this bill, Congressman Buchanan has introduced other legislative initiatives aimed at protecting communities, such as the Criminal Alien Gang Member Removal Act and the Human Trafficking and Exploitation Prevention Training Act. These efforts demonstrate Buchanan's commitment to safeguarding exploited children and women and enhancing awareness of human trafficking.
