Rep. Vern Buchanan, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 16th district, has been active on social media, sharing updates on legislative achievements and community issues. Buchanan, who succeeded Katherine Harris in 2007, is known for his focus on military readiness and public safety.

On December 10, 2024, Rep. Buchanan announced that eight of his proposals were included in this year's National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). He stated that these proposals are aimed at enhancing military readiness, strengthening alliances, and honoring the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces. "Pleased to announce that EIGHT of my proposal were included in this year’s #NDAA! These proposals will enhance military readiness, strengthen our alliances and honor the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces."

On December 11, 2024, Buchanan highlighted a concerning statistic about traffic fatalities in Florida. He noted that one out of every four traffic deaths involves impaired driving and emphasized that impaired driving is entirely preventable. He reminded residents to plan for safe transportation if their plans include alcohol during December's Impaired Driving Prevention Month. "One out of every four traffic deaths in Florida involves impaired driving. Impaired driving is 100% preventable. December is #ImpairedDrivingPreventionMonth. If you are heading out and your plans include alcohol, make sure to plan for a safe ride home."

Also on December 11, Rep. Buchanan congratulated UF IFAS for being named the best agricultural research school in the country. He praised UF IFAS for its significant contributions to innovation in agriculture both within Florida and nationwide and expressed pride in representing the University of Florida Gulf Coast Research and Education Center located in his district. "Congratulations to @UF_IFAS for being named the best agricultural research school in the country! UF IFAS performs vital research that drives innovation for our producers in Florida and across the U.S.—and I'm proud to represent the @UFGulfCoastREC in #FL16!"
