Vern Buchanan, a long-serving U.S. Congressman representing Florida's 16th district since 2007, recently shared his thoughts on health care and national recognition via social media. The congressman has been active in addressing key issues ranging from health care spending to honoring military service members.

On March 24, Buchanan highlighted a resource from the Joint Economic Committee Republicans, focusing on the need for solutions to prevent obesity and manage federal health care spending. "With federal health care spending exceeding $4 trillion per year, we need to come up with real solutions to prevent obesity, save taxpayer money and ensure people have the tools necessary to live longer, healthier and happier lives."

The following day, March 25, Buchanan participated in discussions with Secretary Kennedy regarding collaborative efforts between Congress and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). He emphasized preventive medicine's role in combating chronic diseases and ensuring access to nutritious food. "Great to join @SecKennedy this morning to discuss how Congress can work with HHS to Make America Healthy Again! We discussed the importance of preventive medicine to combat the chronic disease epidemic and ensuring access to healthy, nutritious food."

Also on March 25, Buchanan recognized National Medal of Honor Day by honoring America's service members who have earned the nation's highest military distinction. "On National Medal of Honor Day, we recognize the service and sacrifice of America’s service members who have earned our nation’s highest military honor. We are eternally grateful for the valor of our nation’s heroes."
