Manatee County has seven openings for a citizens advisory committee that makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on Affordable Housing Incentives.
Board members review the established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations and adopted local government comprehensive plan of the appointing local government and recommend specific actions or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value.
The group meets on select Mondays, six times per year at 3:00 p.m. or as needed in the Honorable Patricia M. Glass Chambers on the first floor of the County Administration Building at 1112 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton. Meetings will resume August 22, 2022.
Applications are available for the following:
- A Manatee County resident engaged in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing (Seat 1).
- A Manatee County resident who represents areas of labor engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing (Seat 3).
- A Manatee County resident actively engaged as a for-profit provider in connection with affordable housing (Seat 5).
- A Manatee County resident actively engaged in a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing (Seat 6).
- A resident actively engaged as a real estate professional in connection with affordable housing (Seat 7).
- A Manatee County resident who resides within the jurisdiction of the local governing body (Seat 9).
- A Manatee County resident who represents essential services personnel (Seat 11).
