Manatee County Celebrates Labor Day

Manatee County Government offices will be closed Monday, September 5, to commemorate Labor Day.

Trash, recycling and yard waste collections for the week will be postponed one day from Tuesday through Saturday for residents in unincorporated Manatee County.

Manatee County Area Transit fixed routes, the Longboat Key Shuttle and Handy Bus operations will be suspended on Labor Day. However, the Beach ConneXion shuttle and Anna Maria Island Trolleys WILL operate on Labor Day.

Manatee County's public beaches will remain open for the Labor Day weekend, and there will be additional law enforcement on Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key to assist with the influx of residents and visitors to the area during the busy holiday weekend. The County will place additional public port-a-lets near the public beaches and have them serviced daily during the holiday weekend. Trash will be removed more frequently from public beach areas during the weekend.

As a reminder, the saving of parking spots is not permitted, and all parking is available on a first come, first served basis. Be sure to consider travelling to the beaches early to ensure you can get a spot in a timely manner. As always, double parking is not allowed in any areas near the beach. Additional parking will be available for residents and visitors at Anna Maria Elementary.

Manatee County parks, preserves and beaches will be open to the public. Manatee County and Buffalo Creek Golf Courses will be open. G.T. Bray Recreation Center facilities will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; however, there will be no fitness classes on Monday, September 5. Blackstone Skate Park and G.T. Bray Skate Park will be open.

An additional 30 parking spaces will be available adjacent to the popular Ft. Hamer Boat Ramp along the Manatee River in Parrish. The Hidden Harbor Park truck and trailer parking project has been ongoing for months and will officially open Friday, September 2—just in time for folks to celebrate Labor Day on the water.

All Manatee County Library Branches (now normally open on Mondays per a new schedule that went into effect this month) will be closed on Labor Day.
