Manatee County Names New Utilities Director

Manatee County Utilities has a new leader. Evan Pilachowski, P.E.—currently working with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection—was unanimously approved by the Board of County Commissioners today.

“This opportunity is really exciting,” said Pilachowski, as he was introduced to Commissioners. “I’m really excited to get to work.”

With a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in civil engineering, Evan brings nearly two decades of professional experience to Manatee County—most recently as the Director of Business Enterprise Systems for the Bureau of Wastewater Treatment for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of New York and is in the process of transferring that license to Florida.

“My master’s degree is in water resources,” he said. “I’ve had utilities focus for 19 years.”

Manatee County Deputy Administrator Courtney De Pol praised Interim Utilities Director Jeff Goodwin for his leadership over the past several months, saying “we’ve been so fortunate that he stepped up to the position, and he’s done an incredible job—especially through the recent hurricane.”

Pilachowski—who is relocating to Lakewood Ranch from Jackson Heights, NY—is scheduled to start his new position with Manatee County on October 24. He says he can’t wait.

“I’m excited to be a part of an organization that can make positive change very quickly.”
