Rep. Vern Buchanan, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 16th district, shared his views on social media about political and economic issues. Buchanan, who has been a member of Congress since 2007, took to Twitter to express his opinions on recent developments.
On March 19, 2025, Buchanan criticized the Democratic Party's current standing with the public. He commented on what he perceives as a disconnect between the party and American workers: "If you ever wondered why the Democratic Party has hit record low approval ratings…. Mocking Americans who work hard and play by the rules is perhaps the most out-of-touch comment I’ve heard since Obama’s 'you didn’t build that' line."
Later that day, Buchanan emphasized the importance of small businesses to the economy. He advocated for extending tax cuts established during Trump's administration: "Small businesses are our economic engine. Main Street need to be empowered, not punished. Extending the 20% small biz deduction under the Trump tax cuts will boost our GDP by $150 BILLION every year and create millions of good-paying jobs." He also referenced an article from NFIB to support his stance.
On March 20, 2025, Buchanan reminded constituents about office hours at his Longboat Key office scheduled for March 21: "Don’t forget! My staff is holding office hours at my Longboat Key office tomorrow from 11 AM to 3 PM. Please call my office to schedule an in-person appointment to discuss assistance you may need with a federal agency."
